Uli Hacksell
Born 1950, PhD, MPh.

Chief Executive Officer at ACADIA Pharmaceuticals, a San Diego-based biotechnology company specializing in drug discovery and development, since 2000.

Prior to joining ACADIA as Executive Vice President of Drug Discovery in 1999, Dr. Hacksell spent eight years at Astra holding various senior executive positions, including President of Astra Draco.

Earlier in his career, he was a Professor of Organic Chemistry and Chairman of the Department of Organic Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Uppsala University. Dr Hacksell received a Master of Pharmacy in 1976 and a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry in 1981 from Uppsala University.

He has authored about 200 scientific articles. Dr Hacksell has served as Chairman of the European Federation of Medicinal Chemistry and has been on the Board and the Advisory Board of the Medical Products Agency in Sweden.

Dr Hacksell is currently a member of the board of ACADIA Pharmaceuticals Inc and ActionPharma A/S in Denmark.
